India: Arm Pact with US on the Way
Zoom:

Aryanews- New Delhi is due to sign an agreement which would allow the sale of sophisticated U.S. arms to India.

The pact is expected to be finalized by Monday, during the first trip of U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to India.

U.S. law for weapons sales requires the realization of a process known as "end-use monitoring", which assures the country that India use arms for stated purposes.

Lockheed Martin Corporation and Boeing Company are the among the US Defense contractors competing for India's Plan to buy 126 multi-role fighters.

This contract, if agreed, would be a major step for India, which is trying to modernize its largely Russian-made army.
