| | Poland to hold presidential election before end- June Zoom: Aryanews- Poland must hold a presidential election before the end of June in the wake of the death Saturday in a plane crash of President Lech Kaczynski, according to the Polish constitution. Under article 128 of the constitution, the head of the lower house of parliament has 14 days to fix the election date, "choosing a free day within the next 60 days including the day of the announcement of the election." The task will be up to Bronislaw Komorowski, who as speaker of the lower house of parliament, takes over presidential duties from Kaczynski, killed along with scores of other top polish officials in a crash landing in the western Russian city of Smolensk. Poland had been due to hold a presidential election in October, when the conservative right-winger Kaczynski was likely to have run against liberal Komorowski.
