( NewsNation ) — SpaceX-owned Starlink will provide free internet service to Venezuela through Feb. 3, the internet company announced on X late Saturday.
The move comes after parts of the country, including the capital city of Caracas, lost power due to military strikes the United States conducted.
Early Saturday morning, U.S. forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro at the direction of President Donald Trump and transported Maduro to New York City to face federal drug charges .

Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, did not offer its reasoning behind supplying the country with internet. While it’s unclear if there’s any relation, Musk and Trump had tense interactions following his removal from the former Department of Government Efficiency , also referred to as DOGE.
“In support of the people of Venezuela,” Musk wrote in a one-sentence post on X in response to the Starlink post.
