Arya News - The event, organised by the Royal Brunei Polo Association (RBPA), marked the fourth edition of the recreational ride, in conjunction with the Sultan`s 80th birthday celebration.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Royal Patron of the Royal Brunei Polo Association (RBPA), led a recreational horse ride on Sunday in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th birthday celebration.
The event, organised by the RBPA, marked the fourth edition of the recreational ride.
Upon arrival at the Jerudong Park Polo and Riding Club, His Majesty was welcomed by RBPA Chairman Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong.
His Majesty then consented to join a group photograph before beginning the ride.
Accompanying His Majesty during the ride were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, President of the Royal Brunei Polo Association; and Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah.
The ride, participated by veteran and current polo players, began from Field Number 1 of the Jerudong Park Polo and Riding Club.
His Majesty and members of the Royal Family rode along Jerudong Beach and passed the Jerudong Fish Market, where members of the public gathered to greet the monarch and the royal entourage. The monarch then proceeded along Siandang Beach in Jerudong before heading to The Empire Brunei.
The ride continued to Pantai Restaurant at The Empire Brunei, where His Majesty was greeted by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Zahra Mariam Bolkiah; and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Daniya Rahmatul Bolkiah.
His Majesty later consented to cut a birthday cake and received a pesambah from the RBPA.
The monarch’s participation in the event served as an inspiration and exemplary model in adopting a healthy and active lifestyle. – James Kon
