
Arya News - The inaugural direct international flight brought more than 80 tourists, marking the launch of the first direct air connection between Umnugovi province and Japan.
ULAANBAATAR – A Hunnu Air flight from Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, successfully landed at Gurvansaikhan Airport in Dalanzadgad, Umnugovi province, at 8:18 PM on July 18, 2026.
The inaugural direct international flight brought more than 80 tourists, marking the launch of the first direct air connection between Umnugovi province and Japan.
The new route is expected to support Mongolia’s regional development policy by improving local air connectivity and promoting tourism.
The availability of direct international flights to the Gobi region will allow foreign visitors to travel directly to Umnugovi without transiting through Ulaanbaatar, reducing travel time and boosting local economic activity.
Hunnu Air previously launched a direct international route between Jeonju, Republic of Korea, and Murun Airport in Khuvsgul province in 2025.
