Hackers claim 6 million Bangladeshi CVs for sale on dark web

Hackers claim 6 million Bangladeshi CVs for sale on dark web
Arya News - A hacker group claims it is selling the CVs of six million Bangladeshi jobseekers on the dark web, including personal and employment information. Recruitment platform Bdjobs has denied reports of a website breach and urged users to disregard unverified claims.

DHAKA – A hacker group identifying itself as “madarax” has advertised what it claims are the CVs of six million Bangladeshi jobseekers for sale on the dark web, saying the data came from recruitment platform Bdjobs. Bdjobs has rejected claims circulating about the security of its website and urged users not to share unverified information.
The group published the advertisement on Sunday on a dark web forum. It claimed the dataset contains personal and professional information including names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, educational qualifications, employment histories, and training records.
The hackers offered a copy of the dataset for $1,000, stating it would be sold to a maximum of five buyers, with Paytm, Wise, PayU, and Binance listed among the proposed payment methods.
In an official statement, Bdjobs said misleading and information regarding the security of its website was being circulated on social media. The company said it had prioritised user data protection since its founding, with security measures and access controls in place allowing users to determine who can view their profiles.
Bdjobs noted that jobseeker information can be accessed by hundreds of thousands of registered employers through their accounts, but only for their own recruitment processes. “If any employer attempts to sell that information to a third party, Bdjobs is committed to taking legal action against them if the matter is reported,” the company said.
