Rescue efforts remain underway despite the constant threat of heavy rainfall, renewed flooding, and severe weather. The disaster struck on the morning of August 26, 2026, when a Himalayan glacier collapsed. The outburst triggered a massive torrent of water, mud, and debris through the Bhotekoshi river basin, sweeping away entire homes and families in seconds.
