Arya News - A special exhibition at the Indian Museum will showcase Modi’s tenure as Gujarat chief minister and his work as prime minister since 2014.
KOLKATA – In a special bid to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, Bengal BJP has planned to organise torch rallies across the state and a special exhibition in Kolkata on October 7, state party president Samik Bhattacharya said on Monday.
The ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ will be held at the BJP’s headquarters in all 23 organisational districts, with speeches by national president Nitin Nabin and Modi screened on giant displays before party workers take part in torch rallies, Bhattacharya said.
A special exhibition at the Indian Museum will showcase Modi’s tenure as Gujarat chief minister and his work as prime minister since 2014, including his government’s development and welfare initiatives, he said.
The exhibition will also highlight development initiatives of the BJP-led West Bengal government during its first 100 to 140 days in office, Bhattacharya said.
The programmes are part of the nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began on September 17, Modi’s birthday, and will continue until October 17.
Bhattacharya said Modi would complete 25 uninterrupted years in top administrative positions on October 7, describing it as a rare milestone in parliamentary democracy.
“Today’s religion is democracy and today’s politics is development,” Bhattacharya said, claiming Modi had made development the central focus of governance.
He said the BJP would not tolerate illegal or anti-social activities by anyone associated with the party and would take organisational action against those found involved in such activities.
On airport development, Bhattacharya alleged that several projects in West Bengal had remained stalled due to lack of cooperation from the previous state government. He said the situation had changed after the formation of the new government and expressed hope that work on the Malda airport would also progress.
“A lot will happen; the time has begun. In the days ahead, even gold will be found in West Bengal,” he said.
Bhattacharya appealed to people, including those outside the BJP, to participate in the October 7 programmes and witness what the party described as a milestone in Modi’s public life.
