Rubber meets the road: Cambodian tyre exports on a roll with 80% growth
Arya News - From January to September 2026, Cambodian tyre exports generated more than US$1.7 billion – recording up to an 80% increase in revenue.

PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s vehicle tyre export industry is emerging as a key export sector, recording an 80 per cent revenue increase in the first nine months of the year. From January to September, tyre exports generated more than $1.7 billion.
The General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) reported that the Kingdom earned $1.723 billion from tyre exports during this period, up 77.46 per cent year-on-year.
Kin Oudomonysinat, chief executive officer of manufacturer Sailun Tire Cambodia, told The Post that several factors were helping Cambodia develop into a tyre export hub.
These included the availability of high-quality locally produced natural rubber, an investment-friendly legal framework, an abundant workforce and, particularly, strong demand from numerous overseas markets.
He said these advantages had attracted an increasing number of world-class tyre manufacturers to establish production facilities in Cambodia to serve international markets.
“Rubber cultivation and production in Cambodia have been improving steadily, particularly as more tyre factories have begun operating in the country, driving an annual increase in demand for natural rubber. Tyre exports are expected to continue growing significantly in the future,” he said.
He added that the rapid expansion of tyre manufacturing was creating a stronger domestic market for natural rubber, providing new opportunities for local farmers and rubber producers.
“Cambodia’s tyre manufacturing industry is experiencing significant growth, driving a steady increase in domestic demand for natural rubber. In the past, almost all of Cambodia’s rubber products depended on exports to overseas markets. However, there is now strong domestic demand,” he noted.
Oudomonysinat explained that Cambodian rubber is of high quality compared with supplies from other ASEAN countries. He cited Sailun tyres manufactured in Cambodia with locally sourced natural rubber as an example of high-quality products made in the Kingdom.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, tyre exports reached $1.38 billion in 2025, an increase of 57.86 per cent compared with 2024.
The Kingdom had a total rubber plantation area of 448,051 hectares as of July 2026, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Of the total, 357,483 hectares, or 80 per cent, were mature plantations under tapping, while the remaining 90,568 hectares, equivalent to 20 per cent, were immature plantations, or under maintenance.
The growing tyre manufacturing industry is strengthening links between Cambodia’s agricultural and industrial sectors, while creating additional domestic demand for natural rubber and supporting the expansion of the Kingdom’s export base.
