The United States department of justice (DoJ) has declassified more than three million documents relating to the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Bill Gates and Lord Mandelson are among the high-profile figures facing fresh scrutiny about the depth of their friendships with the billionaire paedophile.
The former Duke of York has suffered furthers blow to his beleaguered reputation with the emergence of a photo of him crouched on all fours over a woman lying on a floor, and with emails to Epstein offering to host him at Buckingham Palace.
The Telegraph’s reporting team has combed through the tranche of files to bring you the latest updates on this breaking story.

The latest tranche of declassified documents has shed new light on the depth of the former prince’s friendship with Epstein.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor invited the paedophile to an intimate dinner at Buckingham Palace a month after Epstein had been released from house arrest in August 2010, emails between the pair have revealed.
The paedophile had served 13 months in jail for soliciting a minor for prostitution and spent the subsequent year on house arrest in his Manhattan mansion.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor previously claimed to have cut contact with Epstein after the investigation was launched in 2006, only getting back in touch to end their relationship in person in late 2010.
However, in an email dated August 2010, Epstein said he could arrange to introduce him to a “beautiful” 26-year-old Russian woman named only as “Irina”.

A month later, the disgraced financier emailed Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, listed in his contacts as “The Duke”, to say he was in London with three women, named as Sarah, Sue and Vera, and requested “private time” with the former royal.
In the exchange Epstein asked whether he should bring the women “so as to add some life”.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor said in reply “we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace”, adding that the location would offer “lots of privacy”.
Further emails show that in November 2010 Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was “plotting” with Epstein before a meeting the next month, saying that he was “really looking” forward to seeing him. “Some interesting things to discuss and plot...,” he wrote.
Yet perhaps the most startling document may be a photograph of the former Duke of York crouched on all fours , looming over a woman lying flat on the floor.

Andrew looks up at the camera while crouching over a woman
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, is seen looking at the camera as a woman, whose face is redacted, lies on her back between his arms. In another photo, his hand is placed on her torso.
The identity of the woman is not known.
Other emails reveal warm words shared in the earlier days of the men’s relationship, such as one exchange in 2002 where Epstein asked Mr Mountbatten-Windsor whether it was true he was considering having more children , adding: “I shall have to refer to you as super sperm.”
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor shut the suggestion down, telling his friend: “No I’m not having more children and don’t believe everything you read in the papers.”
The files also show that Epstein attempted to drag the late Queen into the campaign to win an Oscar for Harvey Weinstein’s film, the King’s Speech.
Associates of the paedophile “slipped” a DVD of the film about King George VI, the father of Elizabeth II, to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, hoping the late Queen would see it and give it her approval.
However, Buckingham Palace appeared resistant to Epstein’s attempts to manipulate Queen Elizabeth into endorsing the film.
In the run-up to the Academy’s Oscars decision, a private screening of The King’s Speech was apparently arranged for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, according to the files.
Peggy Siegal, a Hollywood publicist, wrote to Epstein saying: “Please, please do not forget to ask the Duke of York if the Queen saw ‘The King’s Speech’. It almost doesn’t matter because The Weinstein Company press release said she did!”
Relationship with China
Andrew enjoyed a close rapport with Xi Jinping , the Chinese leader, Epstein claimed in one of the files.
“Prince andrew is off to china , he spent a great deal of time with Xi,” he wrote to Reid Hoffman, the LinkedIn billionaire, in November 2015.
Seemingly offering to broker a meeting with the former prince, he added: “If you would like to meet up, let me know.”
The revelation will raise further questions about whether Andrew’s relationship with senior Chinese officials posed a national security risk.
He is known to have held formal meetings with Mr Xi in Beijing on at least two occasions, in April 2016 and May 2018.
Afghanistan investment opportunities
Andrew consulted Epstein on investment opportunities in Afghanistan, looping the paedophile into a “confidential” memo.
The document, which The Telegraph understands the former Duke of York obtained in his role as Britain’s trade envoy, provided details on prospects linked to a government-backed scheme to rebuild the war-torn country.
Andrew asked Epstein, who months earlier had been released from prison for soliciting a minor for prostitution, for “ideas as to whom I could also usefully show this to attract some interest”.
“I have sadly already found out that Gates Foundation doesn’t do anything in Afghanistan,” he added.
He sent the email weeks after returning from the paedophile’s New York home, where he claimed to have travelled to end their friendship in person because he was “too honourable” to do so by phone.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was approached for comment.
Sarah Ferguson
Sarah Ferguson offered Epstein and his friends VIP tours of Buckingham Palace and boasted that she could “organise anything” for the paedophile.
In 2009, Epstein asked Ms Ferguson, the former wife of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, whether she could organise a “VIP tour” or “access to something special” in London for the daughter of Alan Dershowitz, his lawyer.
She said she could “organise tea in the Buckingham Palace apts.. or Windsor Castle”, the paedophile told friends the next month.
Epstein is known to have visited Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Balmoral at the invitation of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and Ms Ferguson.
The former Duchess of York also referenced Epstein having a secret child in an email.
Ms Ferguson sent him congratulatory messages on the birth of a “baby boy” after he was released from prison in 2011.
She offered Epstein her “love, friendship and congratulations” after hearing the news from “The Duke”, probably referring to Mr Mountbatten-Windsor.
She later expressed hurt that she was not as close to the paedophile as she thought, telling him in an email: “You have disappeared.
“I did not even know you were having a baby. It was sooooo crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeeply (sic). More than you will know.”
Lord Mandelson
Lord Mandelson, the UK’s former ambassador to Washington, is facing further questions about his relationship with Epstein after emails reveal that the paedophile sent £10,000 to his husband .
In September 2009, Reinaldo Avila da Silva emailed Epstein asking for money to fund an osteopathy course and other related expenses.
Lord Mandelson married Mr Da Silva in 2023, after a relationship going back three decades.
Having received the request from Mr Da Silva, Epstein replied later that day: “I will wire your loan amount immediately [sic].”
Mr Da Silva sent Epstein an email a few days later, saying “thank you for the money which arrived in my account this morning”.
Lord Mandelson was sacked as the UK’s ambassador to the US last year, after it emerged that he had called Epstein his “best pal” in a 50th birthday tribute book.
He subsequently claimed in an interview this month that he was kept in the dark about the full horror of Epstein’s crimes because he was gay. Despite his personal birthday tribute message, he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg that he had been “at the edge of this man’s life”.
An image of Lord Mandelson in his underwear , was also released in the files. The former British ambassador to the US is seen wearing what appears to be a pair of white Y-fronts, pictured next to a woman, whose face is redacted.

Lord Mandelson emailed Epstein months before the 2010 general election, telling the paedophile financier to “go after David Cameron”.
The Labour peer, then serving as business secretary in Gordon Brown’s government, urged the paedophile to “chop off the head if you can”.
“The last thing the country needs is an untested captain the rough waters are going to need seasoned hands,” he added, in an email sent months after Epstein was released from prison for soliciting a minor for prostitution.
Lord Mandelson joked with Epstein about getting him to scout “rich individuals” from the Middle East to provide business for his consultancy firm.
The exchange, over several days in November 2010, appears to show Lord Mandelson emailing Epstein from China whilst he was there on business for Global Counsel, the lobbying firm he co-founded.

Epstein emailed the Labour peer on Nov 7, 2010 to say that he was in Abu Dhabi and had plans to travel to Dubai later that day and Turkey the following day.
Lord Mandelson responded hours later saying: “Hope you are looking out for rich individuals who need Global Counsel…”
In documents from 2009, Lord Mandelson was revealed to have forwarded an economic briefing from Gordon Brown to Epstein, captioning it: “Interesting note that’s gone to the PM.”
He was reported to the police by Reform UK after the release of this document, which raised concerns over whether he committed misconduct in a public office by sending commercially sensitive government documents to Epstein.
Emails also revealed the peer secretly gave advice to JP Morgan, via Epstein, on how to lobby and “mildly threaten” the government to reduce the firm’s tax bill after Alistair Darling, the then chancellor, unveiled a 50 per cent tax on به گزارش خبرگزاری آریاs’ bonuses.
In a statement issued to The Telegraph on Friday night, Lord Mandelson apologised “unequivocally” to Epstein’s victims for his continued association with the paedophile.
“I was wrong to believe Epstein following his conviction and to continue my association with him afterwards,” he said. “I apologise unequivocally for doing so to the women and girls who suffered.”
Donald Trump
Donald Trump claimed on Saturday he was “absolved” of wrongdoing in the latest batch of documents released by the DoJ.
He appears thousands of times in the files, but the White House has firmly denied any allegations of sexual abuse made against Mr Trump.
Many of the claims against the US president are uncorroborated tips collated by the FBI in August last year.
It is unclear how much weight the bureau attached to the tips. One document included the claim that a 14-year-old girl was forced to perform oral sex on Mr Trump around 25 years ago in New Jersey.
Elsewhere, a women claimed that Mr Trump “participated regularly in paying money to force her to perform sex acts with him and alleged he was present when her uncle murdered her newborn child” .
Other allegations claimed that Mr Trump would “auction off” children brought in by Epstein at “calendar girls” parties in Mar-a-Lago.
The DoJ said on Friday: “Some of the documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election.
“To be clear, the claims are unfounded and , and if they have a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponised against President Trump already.”
Sir Tony Blair
Epstein boasted of his close relationship with Sir Tony Blair eight years after the former prime minister claimed to have broken off all contact with him.
In an email exchange from September 2010, he told an associate: “[T]ony knows me well , you can ask him for tea.”
The previous August, shortly after he had been released from his 13-month prison sentence, Epstein told a literary agent that he was looking to fund a project the former prime minister was involved in.
Sir Tony has admitted meeting the paedophile in Downing Street in 2002 but has claimed that they did not meet after that point. There is no suggestion they had any contact beyond that single interaction.
Bill Gates
Epstein claimed that Bill Gates caught a sexually transmitted disease after sleeping with “Russian girls”.
He also alleged that the Microsoft founder asked for antibiotics he could “surreptitiously give” to his then-wife Melinda, from whom he is now divorced.
On July 18, 2013, Epstein sent a memo to himself including a number of allegations about Mr Gates.
It said: “To add insult to the injury you them [sic] implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your penis.”

In a separate email, Epstein told Lord Mandelson he had “monstrous fun” with Mr Gates in Seattle.
A spokesman for Mr Gates said: “These claims are absolutely absurd and completely .
“The only thing these documents demonstrate is Epstein’s frustration that he did not have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”
Elon Musk
The files show that Elon Musk asked Epstein when the “ wildest party ” on his island was so that he could attend.
The Tesla boss exchanged emails with the paedophile in 2012, three years after he was released from jail for soliciting a minor for prostitution.
Epstein asked how many people Mr Musk was planning to bring with him to Little Saint James, the financier’s island.
“Probably just Talulah and me. What day/night will be the wildest party on =our (SIC) island?” Mr Musk responded.
Mr Musk was married to the actress Talulah Riley from 2010 to 2013.
A year later, on Dec 13, 2013, Mr Musk asked Epstein: “Will be in the BVI/St Bart’s area over the holidays. Is there a good time to visit?”
Epstein responded: “Always space for you.”
It appears Mr Musk was unable to make the trip, but a separate email exchange indicates the paedophile arranged to visit the SpaceX facility and have lunch with the billionaire.
In response to the latest release, Mr Musk said on Saturday: “No one pushed harder than me to have the Epstein files released and I’m glad that has finally happened.
“I had very little correspondence with Epstein and declined repeated invitations to go to his island or fly on his ‘Lolita Express’, but was well aware that some email correspondence with him could be misinterpreted and used by detractors to smear my name.
“I don’t care about that, but what I do care about is that we at least attempt to prosecute those who committed serious crimes with Epstein, especially regarding heinous exploitation of underage girls.”
Ghislaine Maxwell
Ghislaine Maxwell listed her official residence as Little Saint James – otherwise known as Epstein Island – on her US citizenship certificate, the latest tranche of Epstein files show.
Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence for sex trafficking on behalf of Epstein, is the former girlfriend of the paedophile. She became a naturalised US citizen on Nov 27, 2002, through her residence in the US Virgin Islands.
In the document, released by the US justice department on Friday, Maxwell, who also has British and French citizenship, lists her previous nationality as French. Under her occupation, Maxwell has listed herself as being employed by Epstein as a “manager”.

Epstein bought the 75-acre island for almost £6m and used it as his personal retreat to abuse girls as young as 14 whom Maxwell had procured.
The island was later purchased for $60m by Stephen Deckoff, a US financier and founder of Black Diamond Capital Management.
Maxwell, a British former socialite, was jailed in 2021. The newly released documents contain a copy of the form used by police to process Maxwell after her arrest on July 2 2020.
The file, dated July 8, features Maxwell in a prison-issued orange jumpsuit, along with other personal details including her full name, aliases, and a redacted home address in Bradford, New Hampshire.
Maxwell was also seen suggesting to Epstein he tell the press that Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser, practised witchcraft and to look into criminal records as part of an attempt to smear her.
Melania Trump
The US first lady praised an article written about Epstein in an email to Maxwell, the Epstein files suggest.
In a 2002 email addressed to “G” and signed “Love, Melania”, the US president’s wife apparently told Maxwell she looked great in a photo featured in a New York Magazine profile of Epstein. She described the article as a “nice story”.
Melania Trump has been pictured with Maxwell on at least three occasions, and with Epstein at least once, in the early 2000s alongside Donald Trump.
The White House has been approached for comment.
Sir Richard Branson
Sir Richard Branson told Epstein to bring his “harem” on a visit to his private island in the Caribbean.
The Virgin billionaire hosted Epstein twice at his privately owned Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, in 2013, once in April and again in September.
During his second visit to Necker, Epstein brought three unnamed women with him, whom he referred to as a “harem”.
Sir Richard wrote to Epstein in an email from September: “It was really nice seeing you yesterday. The boys in watersports can’t stop speaking about it! Any time you’re in the area would love to see you. As long as you bring your harem!”
He also offered advice to the paedophile on how to restore his public image following his conviction in 2008 for procuring a minor for prostitution.
A Virgin Group spokesman said on Saturday that Sir Richard would never have used the term “harem” and “there would have been no contact with Epstein whatsoever” if the realities of Epstein’s offending had been known.
