Arya News - On July 21, Brunei`s Badan Tanmiah of the Islamic Religious Council (BTHMUI) conducted a working visit to Hua Ho Agricultural Farm to observe modern technologies, innovations and best practices in livestock farming and agriculture.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Badan Tanmiah of the Islamic Religious Council (BTHMUI) conducted a working visit to Hua Ho Agricultural Farm to observe modern technologies, innovations and best practices in livestock farming and agriculture, as part of efforts to strengthen its knowledge and explore strategic collaboration opportunities in support of the country’s national food security agenda.
Legislative Council member and Managing Director of Hua Ho Agricultural Farm Yang Berhormat Lau How Teck welcomed the delegation led by Chairman of the BTHMUI Board of Directors, Deputy Minister of Education and Deputy President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
The visit began at the farm’s layer chicken facility, where the delegation was briefed on the use of a close-house system incorporating automated technology for feed and water management, temperature control, ventilation and a continuous egg collection system.
The delegation also observed the egg production process, including grading, quality inspection and packaging before distribution to consumers.
The delegation was also taken for a tour of the vegetable cultivation area, which utilises a greenhouse system that provides a controlled growing environment to enhance productivity, minimise the risk of disease and ensure consistent production of high-quality crops as well as the farm’s cold room facilities used for post-harvest storage before produce is supplied to the market.
Yesterday’s working visit aimed to provide BTHMUI with greater exposure to the application of modern technology, innovation and operational management in the agri-food industry, while facilitating discussions on potential strategic collaborations to support the development of the agriculture and livestock sectors in line with national efforts to strengthen food security.
The visit concluded with a discussion and exchange of views between both parties on best practices and potential areas of future collaboration to support the sustainable development of Brunei Darussalam’s agri-food sector.
