
Arya News - Third suspect held as police continue to investigate Kafrul shooting.
DHAKA – Police have arrested another suspected shooter in connection with the killing of a Jubo Dal activist and the injuring of two others in Dhaka’s Kafrul area on Friday night.
The arrestee was identified as Zihad Mollah, 34. With his arrest, the number of suspects detained in connection with the incident has risen to three.
Confirming the development, an official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Mirpur Division told The Daily Star that a team arrested Zihad from Palong upazila in Shariatpur today.
“Zihad is being brought to Dhaka and is currently on the way,” said the official, seeking anonymity.
Police suspect Zihad to be one of the alleged shooters involved in the attack.
Earlier, police arrested two other suspects in connection with the crime.
According to police, the shooting took place around 11:30pm on Friday in front of Opex Garments in Block E of Mirpur-13 under Kafrul Police Station. Four to five unidentified assailants opened fire indiscriminately. Jubo Dal activist Yusuf Ali and two others were injured in the firing.
The victims were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Yusuf dead around 12:40am on Saturday. He had sustained a bullet wound to the right side of his chest.
