Wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly shot at couple`s home, son Elijah arrested

Wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly shot at couple`s home, son Elijah arrested
Arya News - Eric Bieniemy rejoined the Chiefs in the offseason.

Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was reportedly shot at the couple"s home Sunday night, according to ESPN.
Mia, 57, was reportedly hospitalized, per ESPN.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they arrived on the scene at 7:32 p.m. ET on Sunday night. Loudoun County is located in Virginia. Prior to rejoining the Chiefs, Bieniemy previously served as the Washington Commanders " offensive coordinator in 2023.
The Sheriff’s Office also confirmed one adult female sustained multiple gunshot wounds, though did not reveal that person’s identity.
Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the son of Eric and Mia , was arrested by police and charged with “Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling,” per a release. Elijah was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
The Chiefs told ESPN the team was "aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy"s family," but did not provide further comment.
Eric was at the team"s training camp in Missouri earlier in the day Sunday.
A long-time coordinator, Eric has yet to receive a head-coaching job in the NFL. Though he"s been in coaching since 2000, Bieniemy rose to prominence during his first stint with the Chiefs. The team blossomed under him between 2018 and 2022, when he was its offensive coordinator.
But after being turned down for head-coaching gigs, Bieniemy left for the Commanders in 2023. He spent just one year as the team"s offensive coordinator but was not retained by the new coaching staff.
Bieniemy spent the 2024 season with UCLA before joining the Chicago Bears as the team"s running backs coach in 2025.
At the end of the 2025 NFL season, the Chiefs parted ways with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, and opted to bring back Bieniemy in the role.
That decision was met with excitement from tight end Travis Kelce , who called Bieniemy "one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time ."
