Arya News - After opening the BRDB divisional office in Rangpur, LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters that the BNP will select its presidential candidate internally.
DHAKA – LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the presidential election will be held on schedule in accordance with the constitution.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Bangladesh Rural Development Board’s (BRDB) divisional office in Rangpur, he said BNP will nominate its presidential candidate through the party’s internal decision-making process.
Responding to recent political remarks, Fakhrul said those who describe the BNP as a fascist party lack adequate knowledge of politics and history.
“BNP is a democratic political party. Whether Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic party is for its own leaders to determine,” he said.
Earlier, while inaugurating the BRDB divisional office, the minister said the organisation plays an important role in strengthening the rural economy, reducing poverty and promoting cooperative-based development.
He also attended a rural fair and distributed tree saplings and loan cheques among BRDB beneficiaries in Rangpur.
