BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Following the nationwide tour, the PENTARAMA performance concluded on a high note in the Belait District as residents flocked to the Pentas Perayaan at Tudung Saji, Kuala Belait, on Saturday evening, to witness a performance blending comedy and public awareness.
Organised by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, through its Nationhood Unit of the Nationhood and Community Division, in collaboration with the Tutong District Information Branch under the Strategic Communications Division, the performance was held as part of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 80th Birthday Celebration.
The evening opened with the PENTARAMA theme song accompanied by a dance performance from De Mahkota Dance Group, followed by solo and group performances by local artistes Marsya Dania, Nurul Hazimah, Andie Othman, Ak Shawn and Ak Fiqi.
A drama ‘Bukan Sekadar Gurauan’ (More Than Just a Joke) was staged featuring local actors.
The production highlighted the dangers of misusing artificial intelligence, portraying how what began as a seemingly harmless prank escalated into a serious corruption-related crime. Through the storyline, audiences were reminded of the importance of using technology ethically and the consequences of its misuse.

Blending humour with public education, the performance exposed audiences to the increasingly sophisticated tactics employed by scammers while encouraging the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraud.
Adding to the evening’s excitement was the PENTARAMA Quiz, with Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, the guest of honour, presenting prizes to the winners. The event concluded with a special performance of the patriotic song ‘Dirgahayu’ by the line-up of local artistes.
PENTARAMA, which stands for Pentas, Tari dan Drama (Stage, Dance and Drama), has been one of the Information Department’s key platforms since 1988 for delivering official government information directly to the public through live stage performances.
The infotainment programme was held in the Temburong, Brunei-Muara, and Tutong Districts on July 18, 22 and 24. Acting Director of Information and Chairperson of the PENTARAMA performance Siti Bismi Nuruliman binti Awang Haji Emzah; Deputy Director of Information and Deputy Chairperson of the event Sastra Sarini binti Haji Julaini; Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann; as well as mukim penghulu and village heads, representatives from various agencies serving as strategic partners of the Belait District Information Branch were also present.
