Japan’s Lawson convenience store to lower price of signature hand-wrapped rice balls

Japan’s Lawson convenience store to lower price of signature hand-wrapped rice balls
Arya News - The prices will be reduced due to a decline in the cost of domestically produced rice. There will be no change to any product specifications, such as the quantity or quality of the fillings, the company said.

TOKYO – Lawson, Inc. announced Monday that it will lower the prices of 20 items in its line of signature Temaki Onigiri (hand-wrapped rice balls) by ¥10 to ¥11, starting Sept. 29. This will also include region-exclusive products.
The prices will be reduced due to a decline in the cost of domestically produced rice. There will be no change to any product specifications, such as the quantity or quality of the fillings, the company said.
The price of its tuna mayo rice ball will drop from ¥181 to ¥171, while the price of its grilled salmon rice ball will drop from ¥221 to ¥211.
Seven-Eleven Japan Co. said it will also lower the prices of two kinds of hand-wrapped rice balls — salmon and spicy pollock roe flavors — by about ¥19, starting Sept. 8. The company attributes the reduction to lower raw material procurement costs.
