Tourism ministry backs AI Angkor promo videos
Arya News - The Tourism Ministry explained that these videos will aim to present Cambodia’s culture, history, nature, cuisine and the daily lives of its people to give international audiences a clearer understanding of Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH – Two film production companies have received in-principle support from the Minister of Tourism to produce short films and digital tourism promotions which will utilise AI technology to promote Cambodia to the international market.
Tourism minister Huot Hak met with Lim Hournito, president of the Cambodia-China Digital Youth Association, and representatives from Unicorn Media Consulting Group Cambodia and VINCIS on August 24.
According to the tourism ministry, the project that garnered the minister’s interest was the production of AI videos showcasing the Angkor region and Cambodia’s tourism potential.
The ministry explained that these videos will aim to present Cambodia’s culture, history, nature, cuisine and the daily lives of its people to give international audiences a clearer understanding of Cambodia.
It also noted that Hak emphasised that film production must adhere to existing procedures and regulations, especially regarding obtaining permission for content and storylines from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, before filming commences.
The minister encouraged the companies to use Cambodia as a rich “natural studio” and expand filming locations beyond the Angkor region to the southwestern coast, northeastern forests and waterfalls, ecotourism areas, as well as heritage architecture and colonial-era buildings in Phnom Penh, Battambang and Kampot provinces.
He noted that from the land of Angkor to the sea, and from the mountains to the cities, Cambodia has many landscapes and stories that can be transformed into digital content and AI videos to showcase “the true beauty of Cambodia” to the world.
