Arya News - Russia is charting its own course into the future and is ready to cooperate with other countries in this effort, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Russia is charting such a route to the future for itself and, of course, is ready to participate in such work together with other countries and peoples of the world", Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club. The formation of a multipolar world is inevitable, but while countries are only to sketch the outlines of the future, we need to survive the current unstable time, Putin said. He urged other countries to live in harmony and jointly seek ways to achieve this."If we want to live, and everyone wants to live, then, as I once said in a public speech, let"s live in harmony and jointly seek ways to achieve this," Putin said.Putin also called for a joint search for a way out of the Ukrainian conflict.Russia will have to live in the near future in an extremely unstable and changing world, Putin said, adding that Russophobia and oppression of Russians should not be turned into state ideology aimed at strategic defeat of Russia.Policy of Escalating Hostilities is Never One-SidedA policy of escalating hostilities and sanctions is never one-sided, as destructive actions by one party are always met with a response from the other, Putin remarked. It is important to avoid the implementation of the most destructive threats in these challenging times, the president added."The situation in Europe and the world today is extremely dangerous... We must realize that the moment when nothing can be changed anymore could arrive very quickly and unexpectedly for everyone. It may turn out that the logic of escalating, harsh reciprocal responses leads to a fatal point of no return," Putin stated.European drills in the Baltic Sea and attempts to detain Russian ships are an escalation, he pointed out."These statements by Western politicians and European politicians about the necessity and possibility of preparing a war with Russia in 2029-2030 are not formulated by us, we hear this from the other side, and all the time. And then there are specific actions — drills in the Baltic Sea, one after another, then attempts to detain our ships, but this is all an escalation," Putin said.Europe"s political leadership is dragging its citizens to the dangerous brink of confrontation with Russia, Putin said, emphasizing that Russia is not a threat to anyone. He further explained that Moscow"s words about the possibility of defending Kaliningrad are not an intimidation, but a response to the attempt to intimidate Russia.Earlier this week, the Russian Embassy in Belgium said that Russia warned NATO and the Belgian Foreign Ministry that the alliance"s actions around the Kaliningrad Region and the escalation of the situation sharply increase the risk of a direct armed conflict, and declared its readiness to use all available arsenal to protect its territory. If it comes to a direct attack on Russia, the question of using all available weapons will inevitably and immediately appear on the agenda, Putin added. He also insisted that Russia has no intention of attacking anyone neither in 2029, nor in 2030, nor in 2050."We are not threatening anyone; we have no intention of attacking anyone, neither in "29, nor in "30, nor in "50. But if we face aggression, we will be forced to respond," Putin said.In the event of an attack, Russia would have to leverage its competitive advantages, the president added."No one else possesses the kind of strike capabilities that Russia has today. And this is our competitive advantage," Putin said."Whether the EU endures, whether Italy remains a member or not, that is none of our business. We do not even get involved in that, nor do we wish to enter into that discussion, because we know that the very next moment, people would claim we want to collapse the EU. Yet we have no desire to collapse anything; we only want to build and cooperate," he added. There is no need for someone to collapse Europe, as it will collapse on its own due to economic problems, Putin said."As for the conditions for establishing a dialogue [with the EU], we have no preconditions for resuming or restoring relations with Europe as a whole or with specific European countries," the Russian president said, adding that in the EU, individual countries are forbidden from maintaining relations with Russia. He called it a threat when some countries try to fight Russia through proxy means.Ukraine cannot exist independently and is controlled from outside and is losing its statehood, Putin said, adding that interstate military-technical cooperation is not causing concern to Russia, but involvement of other countries in direct hostilities is.Russian military intelligence is closely monitoring where potential threats may come from, Putin said, commenting on the involvement of other countries in the Ukraine conflict.Russia does not receive weapons from anyone and relies only on its defense industry, he added.World Reaches Decisive Turning Point"The world has reached a decisive, pivotal moment in its development. And it is far from being just about politics. Politics, as always, stems from profound changes," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.Changes are taking place in all areas: from technology to the social structure of society, from climate to medicine, from military affairs to bioethics, from the future of energy to demographic shifts, and from universal digitalization and artificial intelligence to entirely new models of economic development, the president added."The list could go on for a long time. Taken together, this creates the conditions for a qualitative transformation. We cannot yet unequivocally or fully assess all the circumstances surrounding it and their consequences," Putin said.Everyone in the world will sooner or later have to agree on the principles of a new world order, the president stated. He also remarked that every taboo in global politics is currently being violated."In some cases, it even turns into aggressive attempts to secure unilateral advantages, exacerbate global turmoil, and exploit it for one"s own interests. Global politics provides examples of this almost daily; every conceivable — and inconceivable — taboo is being violated," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.International relations require accuracy and adherence not only to the letter of the law but also to its spirit, the president stated, adding that moral and ethical constraints and standards of propriety are important because respecting them creates the possibility for dialogue.International institutions created after World War II no longer reflect the global situation, he added."The systematic failure to fulfill obligations, deceit, the reduction of communication to a farce, turning any substantive conversation into propaganda, and the ostentatious mockery and distortion of facts for the sake of short-term gain destroy the very foundation of international existence," Putin said. However, it does not mean that the world is doomed to chaos, the Russian president added.Friendly relations between Russia and China are an important factor in stabilizing global politics, he remarked. The Russian president added that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping understand each other without words. The idea of a large Eurasian partnership is becoming particularly relevant in the context of global instability, he suggested. The current conflicts in the world resulted from the reluctance of politicians, both in the West and in the East, at the end of the last century to seriously and deeply address the era of change, argued Putin. This is not shifting responsibility onto the leaders of the past, but reality, the president noted.World Has Yet to Learn to Live With AIThe world has yet to learn how to live and work with artificial intelligence, Putin said."Global changes are creating a great many new dilemmas that simply did not exist before. MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia is charting its own course into the future and is ready to cooperate with other countries in this effort, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Dear ladies and gentlemen, I repeat once again, the fundamental shaping of the new world order is inevitable. Let"s hope that this will happen in the foreseeable historical future," Putin said.

"If we want to live, and everyone wants to live, then, as I once said in a public speech, let"s live in harmony and jointly seek ways to achieve this," Putin said.
Putin also called for a joint search for a way out of the Ukrainian conflict.
Russia will have to live in the near future in an extremely unstable and changing world, Putin said, adding that Russophobia and oppression of Russians should not be turned into state ideology aimed at strategic defeat of Russia.
Policy of Escalating Hostilities is Never One-Sided
A policy of escalating hostilities and sanctions is never one-sided, as destructive actions by one party are always met with a response from the other, Putin remarked.
"The escalation of hostilities and the imposition of sanctions are not new practices; they have been employed in many conflicts. Moreover, they are never one-sided — provocative actions by one side are met with a response from the other," he said.
It is important to avoid the implementation of the most destructive threats in these challenging times, the president added.
"The situation in Europe and the world today is extremely dangerous... We must realize that the moment when nothing can be changed anymore could arrive very quickly and unexpectedly for everyone. It may turn out that the logic of escalating, harsh reciprocal responses leads to a fatal point of no return," Putin stated.
European drills in the Baltic Sea and attempts to detain Russian ships are an escalation, he pointed out.
"These statements by Western politicians and European politicians about the necessity and possibility of preparing a war with Russia in 2029-2030 are not formulated by us, we hear this from the other side, and all the time. And then there are specific actions — drills in the Baltic Sea, one after another, then attempts to detain our ships, but this is all an escalation," Putin said.
Europe"s political leadership is dragging its citizens to the dangerous brink of confrontation with Russia, Putin said, emphasizing that Russia is not a threat to anyone.
He further explained that Moscow"s words about the possibility of defending Kaliningrad are not an intimidation, but a response to the attempt to intimidate Russia.
Earlier this week, the Russian Embassy in Belgium said that Russia warned NATO and the Belgian Foreign Ministry that the alliance"s actions around the Kaliningrad Region and the escalation of the situation sharply increase the risk of a direct armed conflict, and declared its readiness to use all available arsenal to protect its territory.
"We are not scaring anyone. What you have just said, the statement of the Foreign Ministry and the letters that the Foreign Ministry has sent to some countries, is not intimidation, it is a response to an attempt to intimidate us," Putin said.
If it comes to a direct attack on Russia, the question of using all available weapons will inevitably and immediately appear on the agenda, Putin added.
He also insisted that Russia has no intention of attacking anyone neither in 2029, nor in 2030, nor in 2050.
"We are not threatening anyone; we have no intention of attacking anyone, neither in "29, nor in "30, nor in "50. But if we face aggression, we will be forced to respond," Putin said.
In the event of an attack, Russia would have to leverage its competitive advantages, the president added.
"No one else possesses the kind of strike capabilities that Russia has today. And this is our competitive advantage," Putin said.
"Whether the EU endures, whether Italy remains a member or not, that is none of our business. We do not even get involved in that, nor do we wish to enter into that discussion, because we know that the very next moment, people would claim we want to collapse the EU. Yet we have no desire to collapse anything; we only want to build and cooperate," he added.
There is no need for someone to collapse Europe, as it will collapse on its own due to economic problems, Putin said.
"As for the conditions for establishing a dialogue [with the EU], we have no preconditions for resuming or restoring relations with Europe as a whole or with specific European countries," the Russian president said, adding that in the EU, individual countries are forbidden from maintaining relations with Russia.
He called it a threat when some countries try to fight Russia through proxy means.
"When someone wants to fight us through proxy means, in this case, the Ukrainian regime, which is throwing its own people under fire to be exterminated ... When someone starts fighting us through proxy means, that is certainly a threat... it is a threat we must understand, assess, and take into account," Putin said.
Ukraine cannot exist independently and is controlled from outside and is losing its statehood, Putin said, adding that interstate military-technical cooperation is not causing concern to Russia, but involvement of other countries in direct hostilities is.
Russian military intelligence is closely monitoring where potential threats may come from, Putin said, commenting on the involvement of other countries in the Ukraine conflict.
Russia does not receive weapons from anyone and relies only on its defense industry, he added.
World Reaches Decisive Turning Point
"The world has reached a decisive, pivotal moment in its development. And it is far from being just about politics. Politics, as always, stems from profound changes," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
Changes are taking place in all areas: from technology to the social structure of society, from climate to medicine, from military affairs to bioethics, from the future of energy to demographic shifts, and from universal digitalization and artificial intelligence to entirely new models of economic development, the president added.
"The list could go on for a long time. Taken together, this creates the conditions for a qualitative transformation. We cannot yet unequivocally or fully assess all the circumstances surrounding it and their consequences," Putin said.
Everyone in the world will sooner or later have to agree on the principles of a new world order, the president stated.
"The alarming trends we are witnessing on the international stage compel us to consider — above all, and before thinking about how to organize global interaction more wisely, effectively, and equitably in the period ahead, though all of that is, of course, extremely important —how to preserve global peace and security right now, at a time when many previous legal norms have been cast aside and new ones have yet to emerge," Putin said.
He also remarked that every taboo in global politics is currently being violated.
"In some cases, it even turns into aggressive attempts to secure unilateral advantages, exacerbate global turmoil, and exploit it for one"s own interests. Global politics provides examples of this almost daily; every conceivable — and inconceivable — taboo is being violated," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
International relations require accuracy and adherence not only to the letter of the law but also to its spirit, the president stated, adding that moral and ethical constraints and standards of propriety are important because respecting them creates the possibility for dialogue.
International institutions created after World War II no longer reflect the global situation, he added.
"The systematic failure to fulfill obligations, deceit, the reduction of communication to a farce, turning any substantive conversation into propaganda, and the ostentatious mockery and distortion of facts for the sake of short-term gain destroy the very foundation of international existence," Putin said.
However, it does not mean that the world is doomed to chaos, the Russian president added.
Friendly relations between Russia and China are an important factor in stabilizing global politics, he remarked.
"China"s role and significance in international affairs are steadily growing, and the trusting, friendly relations between Russia and China, as I have repeatedly stated, are a very significant factor in stabilizing global politics," Putin said.
"The current conflicts and upheavals are to a significant extent the products of the reluctance, unwillingness or inability of politicians at the end of the 20th century, both in the East and in the West, to seriously and deeply address the era of grandiose changes," Putin said.
This is not shifting responsibility onto the leaders of the past, but reality, the president noted.
World Has Yet to Learn to Live With AI
The world has yet to learn how to live and work with artificial intelligence, Putin said.
"Global changes are creating a great many new dilemmas that simply did not exist before. The most obvious example is the issue of artificial intelligence — something we all have yet to learn to live and work with. How will its rapid development affect the intellectual level of humanity itself, as well as its spiritual and cultural heritage?" Putin said.
Digital totalitarianism will be just as much of a dead-end, grim, and inhumane example of the totalitarian past as those seen before, the president added.
The world needs to develop rules for the use of artificial intelligence in a timely manner, Putin suggested..
"It would be very good if we could work out the rules for using this mechanism [AI] in the interests of all mankind in a timely manner," he said.
US-Russia Relations
Putin mentioned that he has established a good, long-standing relationship with US President Donald Trump.
"I have a rather good, long-standing relationship with President Trump. I am grateful to him for his efforts to resolve, say, the Ukrainian crisis. As I have said many times, and I am convinced of this, he is doing so sincerely," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.
Russia is also grateful to First Lady Melania Trump for her humanitarian work during the conflict, the Russian president added.
"We would very much like for these factors that divide us to become a thing of the past and for new prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation to emerge," Putin said.
The Trump administration, he added, is guided only by the US national interests.
"The current US leadership is guided, first and foremost, by its own national interests. I have no doubt about this, knowing President Trump," Putin said at the plenary session of the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.
Putin described the US decisions regarding its economic relations with Europe as pragmatic.
He did note, however, that the United States has not responded to Russia"s proposals to resume dialogue on curbing the arms race, and there is no way to resolve it.
"We"re not against resuming this dialogue. We have never been against it. We have proposed and are still proposing a response [from the United States]. Well, if there is no response, there is no way to resolve it," Putin said.
Russia understands that agreements on arms control are necessary, Putin said.
Russia is receiving signals that the United States is renewing its interest in dialogue on strategic stability, Putin said, adding that Moscow is not opposed to resuming dialogue with the US on this issue and is ready to resume it any day.
He also remarked that Russia agreed to certain US proposals on Ukrainian peace during the August 2025 summit meeting in the Alaskan city of Anchorage.
"Certain proposals were made to us. I said: "We need to think," and when I arrived in Anchorage I said that we agreed with the US proposals. It was not our proposals that we discussed in Anchorage, but the US proposals, and I came to say that we agreed," Putin said.
US President Donald Trump made difficult proposals to Russia on the Ukrainian settlement process, but they were "in the right direction," including on security guarantees, Putin added.
