On Monday, Trump signed an executive order temporarily authorizing the use of dyed diesel fuel on public roads and granting a deferral on federal diesel taxes amid record-high prices. Dyed-red diesel is traditionally intended exclusively for agricultural and construction machinery; however, amidst a sharp rise in prices, the administration has lifted restrictions on its use until the end of the year. The price of diesel fuel in the United States reached a record $6.50 per gallon on September 22; it currently stands at $6.27.

"We have a big announcement coming up on diesel," Trump said from the White House.
