Arya News Agency -NEW DELHI – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stark warning on Saturday, declaring that India’s armed forces would launch cross-border strikes into Pakistan in the event of any terrorist activity or military miscalculation emanating from its western neighbor, sharply raising the rhetorical stakes in an already volatile regional security landscape.
Speaking at the Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, Modi asserted that those who propagate terrorism are now on the back foot globally. “If Pakistan indulges in any wrongful misadventure, India’s armed forces will enter their territory and strike,” he declared, in some of his most direct language on cross-border military action to date.
The Prime Minister further underscored domestic security gains, stating that peace has progressively extended from Jammu and Kashmir to the country’s northeastern states, and that the backbone of Maoist insurgency has been effectively broken. He also noted a shift in global perceptions, remarking that a world once preoccupied with India’s political paralysis now speaks instead of its growing political dynamism and strategic resilience.
Modi’s remarks come on the heels of his address at the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit last week, where he called for a comprehensive and unified global front against terrorism, explicitly rejecting any application of double standards in counter-terrorism efforts. “We must dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism—including its financing, recruitment networks, radicalization pipelines, and safe havens,” he emphasized.
At the SCO forum, Modi also stressed that member states must speak with one voice to affirm that there is no room for selectivity or duplicity when confronting terrorist threats. Reiterating his longstanding diplomatic stance, he added that no conflict can be resolved on the battlefield, and that all wars and disputes must be settled through dialogue and diplomacy—even as he coupled that appeal with an unambiguous deterrent threat against Pakistan.
The twin messages—offering a hand for peace while sharpening the sword of retaliation—underscore New Delhi’s increasingly assertive posture under Modi, as it seeks to balance regional stability with zero-tolerance toward cross-border terrorism.
