KUALA LUMPUR – The investigation papers into a fatal accident involving an Immigration Department lorry and four pedestrians have been referred to the prosecution for further instructions.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the investigation papers were being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
“Following discussions with the prosecution at 2.45pm yesterday (Dec 19), and after reviewing the investigation papers, the Deputy Public Prosecutor recommended that the papers be referred to the head of the General Crimes and Public Order Unit at the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) in Putrajaya,” he said on Thursday (Aug 20).
ACP Mohd Zamzuri said the DPP would bring the investigating officer and the IP to Putrajaya at 8am on Thursday for further instructions, including on any possible charges.
He added that any charges, if approved, would be brought at the Jalan Duta Court.
Three family members were killed and another injured in the incident.
Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
