Arya News - Visitors can explore the history of Thailand’s railways through displays honouring Gen HRH Prince Purachatra Jayakara abilities and achievements, while enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere and distinctive character of Hua Lamphong station.
BANGKOK – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is inviting the public to visit its Burachat Day 2026 exhibition at Bangkok Railway Station, better known as Hua Lamphong, from September 8-11, 2026.
Held under the theme “Carrying forward the vision, from foundations to the future”, the exhibition honours Gen HRH Prince Purachatra Jayakara, Prince of Kamphaeng Phet, recognised as the father of Thailand’s modern railways for his significant contributions to their development.
Visitors can explore the history of Thailand’s railways through displays presenting the prince’s life, abilities and achievements, while enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere and distinctive character of Hua Lamphong station.
Thai dress photo contest offers commemorative prizes
Alongside the exhibition, the SRT is holding a “Visit Hua Lamphong in Thai Dress” activity, encouraging visitors to wear traditional Thai clothing, take photographs at the station and share their experiences for a chance to receive a special souvenir.
To enter, participants must photograph themselves wearing Thai dress at Hua Lamphong and post the image on their own Facebook account with the hashtag #แต่งไทยเที่ยวหัวลำโพง.
The five photographs receiving the most likes will each win a gold-plated metal pin bearing the Burachat commemorative emblem. The competition is open to people of all ages and genders, with entries accepted from September 8-11, 2026.
Winners announced on September 12
The SRT will announce the winners on Saturday (September 12, 2026) through its public relations team’s Facebook page.
Organisers will also contact the winners by private message through the Facebook accounts used to post their competition entries.
“The State Railway of Thailand invites the public, tourists and anyone interested to rediscover the charm of the past at Bangkok Railway Station, Hua Lamphong, while honouring the prince’s contributions and carrying forward the vision that laid the foundations of Thailand’s railways,” the SRT said.
“Join us from September 8-11, 2026, at Bangkok Railway Station, Hua Lamphong, as we connect the railway’s past and present with its future.”
