Thai PM Anutin targets global investors in US growth push
Arya News - Prime Minister Anutin aims to place Thailand firmly on the global investment radar, driving bilateral talks with top US financial institutions and multinational technology firms.

BANGKOK – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has embarked on a high-stakes investment mission to New York, positioning Thailand as an emerging hub for next-generation technology and global capital as he attends the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
Leading a high-level delegation alongside Thai financial leaders, the Prime Minister aims to place Thailand firmly on the global investment radar, driving bilateral talks with top US financial institutions and multinational technology firms.
Speaking in New York on Tuesday, Government Spokesperson Dr Ekkapob Pianpises outlined the administration’s plan to boost international trust and secure foreign direct investment (FDI) to fuel the nation’s new economic engines.
“Regardless of global economic volatility, international investors can remain confident in Thailand’s stability and readiness,” Ekkapob stated.
            High-Level Engagements in New York
On the sidelines of the UN General Debate, Prime Minister Anutin is scheduled to hold targeted discussions with major Wall Street figures and industry leaders at Bank of America Tower.
Highlights of the afternoon agenda include:
Financial Services & Funds: High-level meetings hosted by Bank of America, alongside executive talks with Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO).
Technology Partnerships: Bilateral negotiations with tech giant Microsoft to foster cooperation in AI and digital infrastructure.
Diplomatic Diplomacy: A bilateral meeting with Rebeca Grynspan, candidate for UN Secretary-General from Costa Rica, to discuss multilateral economic cooperation.
The day’s proceedings will conclude with a formal reception and gala dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in honour of visiting heads of state.
Capital Market Outperformance Sparks Investor Interest
The Prime Minister’s diplomatic push coincides with a dramatic turnaround in Thailand’s financial markets.
Organised in partnership with the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organisations (FETCO) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the parallel US roadshow aims to capitalise on the country’s strongest capital market performance in years.
Following economic roadshows to Tokyo and London, FETCO Chairman Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn noted that global sentiment towards Thai equities has shifted significantly.
“This marks the first time in three to four years that the Thai stock market has recorded net positive foreign inflows,” Paiboon said. “Thailand stands out as the only Asian market reporting net foreign capital inflows this year. The SET Index has surged by nearly 30 per cent, vastly outperforming global market benchmarks, which grew by 10 to 12 per cent over the same period.”
The turnaround follows credit rating updates from all three major international agencies, which recently maintained Thailand’s sovereign outlook at ‘Stable’.
            Transitioning to Next-Gen Growth
Stock Exchange of Thailand President Asadej Kongsiri confirmed that SET executives will meet over 30 institutional investors in New York to pitch Thailand’s long-term economic strategy.
Key points presented to fund managers include:
Corporate Recovery: Robust earnings growth among listed Thai firms after a multi-year plateau.
Economic Rebalancing: A strategic shift towards high-growth, next-generation sectors, including artificial intelligence, data centres, and digital technology.
National Competitiveness: Government-backed reforms designed to streamline real-sector investment and manufacturing.
“Every 100-point gain in the SET Index creates approximately 1 trillion baht in market capitalisation,” Asadej highlighted. “Realised trading gains translate directly into domestic spending and employment, strengthening the real economy for the long term.”
Government officials expect the ongoing delegation to solidify international confidence, cementing Thailand’s status as a resilient, high-yield destination for institutional capital.
