Due to heavy rains, water from Myanmar’s Bago River enters low-lying areas
Arya News - Relevant organisations are closely monitoring the river conditions and flooding and are continuing to carry out necessary flood prevention and relief efforts.

YANGON – Locals said that the rising waters of the Bago River were causing flooding in low-lying areas.
Due to heavy rains, river water flooded low-lying areas in Bago Township on July 29.
“The water depth in the low-lying areas of Myothit Ward was about four feet, and in the low-lying areas of Kyaukgyi Su Ward, the water depth was also about two feet,” a local said.
Similarly, the water depth on Mingalar Road was about 2 feet, and the low-lying areas of Kalyani Ward, such as areas 4, 6, 16, and 21, were also about 2 feet deep; the local added that the river could rise again if the rain continued.
In addition, water rose on Keut Thit Road, Nat Than Pyin Road, and Pattamiyar Road, and water also rose in the Myothit Quarter, with the water reaching up to four feet 6 inches in the deepest areas, according to local residents.
The Bago River water level was at 880 centimeters, and according to measurements on July 29, the water level had reached 853 centimeters, which was still 27 centimeters below the danger level.
Similarly, the flood point of the Zaung Tu River was 900 centimeters, while the current flood point was 569 centimeters, which was 331 centimeters below the flood point.
Relevant responsible organizations were closely monitoring the river conditions and flooding, and were continuing to carry out necessary flood prevention and relief efforts.
