
Arya News - In a phone interview with reporters, Police Regional Office of Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO 9) public information officer Maj. Shellamie Chang said police recorded at least two victims of the incident but could not identify them yet.
MANILA – An alleged school shooting was reported by police inside a private school in Zamboanga City on Tuesday morning.
In a phone interview with reporters, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said a Grade 10 victim and a Grade 9 child in conflict with the law (CICL) died in the incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga City Junior High School.
Zamboanga City Police Office director Col. Fidel Fortaleza Jr., Station 7 (Santa Maria) personnel and crime scene operatives were now on the scene, according to Police Regional Office Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO 9) spokesperson Maj. Shellamie Chang in an earlier phone interview.
“They are on top of the situation,” Chang stressed.
“Safe naman yung ibang mga estudyante. Na-evacuate na sa kanilang evacuation area. Processing na lang yung ginagawa sa area (The other students are safe. They have been evacuated to their evacuation area. Authorities are just processing them in the area),” she added.
“Tututukan ng investigation na gagawin ng Zamboanga City Police Office kung paano nakapasok sa school yung firearm na dala ng suspek natin (The Zamboanga City Police Office’s investigation will look into how the suspect managed to bring the firearm into the school),” Chang said.
