Basic pensions for Mongolia’s senior citizens to increase from Nov 1

Basic pensions for Mongolia’s senior citizens to increase from Nov 1
Arya News - Under the reform, pension amounts are expected to increase by MNT 100,000–300,000.

ULAANBAATAR – Prime Minister N.Uchral presented amendments to Mongolia’s 2026 State Budget on August 20, 2026, and announced plans to accelerate the implementation of social insurance reform.
“Under the reform, basic pensions for senior citizens will be introduced starting November 1, 2026, with pension amounts expected to increase by MNT 100,000–300,000.
The current average monthly pension is approximately MNT 955,000 and is expected to increase by MNT 233,800, reaching approximately MNT 1.19 million.
A total of 435,000 senior citizens are expected to benefit from the reform, which will require an estimated MNT 1.2 trillion in funding.
This reform aims to reduce disparities in the pension system and ensure a fairer assessment of the work, years of service, and contributions of senior citizens. It will recognize the contributions of the older generation and make the pension system fairer,” Prime Minister N.Uchral said.
Currently, 435,000 citizens in Mongolia receive pensions.
