ULAANBAATAR – President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh met with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to discuss the current state of bilateral relations and opportunities to further expand cooperation.
The two leaders noted that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and China has continued to expand across all sectors, with political mutual understanding and trust further strengthened.
They also emphasized that high-level agreements aimed at promoting cooperation in trade and the economy, cross-border railway construction, renewable energy, environmental protection, agriculture, and light industry are producing tangible results.
President Xi Jinping congratulated Mongolia on successfully hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17).
The two sides agreed to further align bilateral relations and cooperation with long-term sustainable economic development and planning, while expanding cooperation in industry, infrastructure, green development, minerals, and renewable energy.
The leaders emphasized the importance of developing cross-border railway ports to promote trade and economic cooperation.
In this regard, they exchanged views on completing construction of the Gashuunsukhait–Gantsmod railway border crossing by 2027 and gradually commissioning the Shiveekhuren–Sekhee, Bichigt–Zuun Khatavch, and Khangi–Mandal cross-border railway lines.
President Xi Jinping said that despite disruptions to global fuel and petroleum product supplies caused by international geopolitical and strategic developments, China will support the supply of petroleum products to Mongolia.
The two sides also discussed Mongolia–China–Russia trilateral cooperation, including the modernization and expansion of the Central Railway Corridor, the possibility of transporting natural gas through Mongolian territory, and progress on the construction of the Erdeneburen Hydropower Plant.
