BEIJING – The overall rate of myopia among students in China fell to 49.9 percent in 2025, down 3.7 percentage points from 53.6 percent in 2018, health officials said on Thursday.
The rate has declined for five consecutive years, according to Fei Jia, deputy director of the Department of Health and Expanded Program on Immunization at the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, who was speaking at a news conference in Beijing on Thursday.
The figures were based on monitoring results for student eye health nationwide, Fei said.
