Arya News - Malaysia remains committed to preventing the country from being used to support military aggression or acts against innocent lives, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.
KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed Malaysia’s firm stance against allowing the country to be used as a transit point for any cargo contributing to Israel’s military operations.
Malaysia remains committed to preventing the country from being used to support military aggression or acts against innocent lives, he said.
“Malaysia’s position is clear and unequivocal. We will not allow our country to be used as a conduit for any shipment that supports or contributes to Israel’s military capabilities and its atrocities against Palestinians and other innocent lives.
“Any suspicious shipment will be subject to inspection and investigation in accordance with Malaysian law. Where a violation is established, decisive action will be taken,” he said in a post on X.
Earlier, Bernama reported about Anwar’s two-day official visit to the Maldives which ended yesterday.
Anwar described Maldives president Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s warm hospitality as a reflection of the friendship, trust and affection between the two countries.
Speaking at an official luncheon hosted by Muizzu in his honour in Male, Anwar said it was rare for a head of state to spend a considerable amount of time with him during an official visit.
“You said yours is a small country. Malaysia is relatively small, although a bit larger than the Maldives. But we should not despair. Small countries with a big heart are what the world needs now,” he said.
Anwar said Malaysia and the Maldives shared common values and should not allow their size to limit their aspirations or voice on the international stage.
He said the two countries could demonstrate their role in world affairs through good governance, responsibility and the courage to defend what is right, rather than subscribing to the notion that “might is right”.
