Thai PM Anutin and 17 ministers face sweeping opposition accusations
Arya News - Thailand’s opposition has filed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and 17 ministers, alleging corruption, abuse of power and mismanagement.

BANGKOK – Thailand’s opposition parties filed a no-confidence motion on October 8 against Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and 17 other ministers, setting out wide-ranging allegations including corruption, abuse of power, conflicts of interest and failures in government administration.
The opposition coalition, led by the People’s Party and joined by the Democrat, Thai Pakdee, Thai Ruam Palang and Seri Ruam Thai parties, submitted the motion to the House of Representatives at 2pm under Section 151 of the Constitution.
The motion contains separate accusations against each of the 18 ministers. The claims are allegations made by the opposition and do not constitute findings of wrongdoing.
            Anutin faces wide-ranging accusations
Anutin, who also serves as interior minister, faces the most extensive set of allegations in the motion.
The opposition accuses him of serious ethical breaches, corruption, mismanagement, abuse of authority and using government appointments and political networks to benefit himself and associates.
It also alleges irregularities involving elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, civil-service recruitment examinations and state budget spending.
The motion further accuses Anutin and his political network of attempting to influence the justice system, independent organisations and mechanisms intended to check government power, while allegedly protecting allies from scrutiny.
The opposition also links him to alleged interference in investigations into the Senate selection process and accuses his administration of failing to tackle so-called grey capital networks.
Other accusations concern patronage in government appointments, interference in the transfer of civil servants and failures in economic management, public welfare, national security and the southern border provinces.
The motion also portrays Anutin as being influenced by other political figures and alleges that his position has been used to protect the interests of people within his political network.
Phiphat and Songsak accused over corruption and Senate process
Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn is accused of corruption, allowing wrongdoing, using government projects to benefit associates and pursuing policies favouring major business interests at the expense of the wider public.
The opposition also alleges that Phiphat was involved in manipulation of the Senate selection process and interference with mechanisms investigating the alleged irregularities.
Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri is accused of acting contrary to the Constitution and law, participating in or supporting systemic corruption and seriously breaching ethical standards.
He also faces opposition allegations concerning the Senate selection process.
            Economic and cost-of-living criticism
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas is accused of economic mismanagement, failing to address economic problems and allowing corruption.
The motion also alleges that he failed to act adequately against grey capital networks and people associated with them, causing damage to the country and the public.
Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun is accused of poor leadership and failing to respond effectively to national crises.
The opposition particularly criticises her handling of the cost-of-living crisis, alleging that the government allowed consumer prices to rise to levels that placed greater pressure on households.
Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt faces allegations of conflicts of interest, corruption, abuse of authority, lack of transparency and poor governance.
The motion claims his conduct damaged public administration and undermined the rule of law.
Defence, tourism and digital ministers targeted
Defence Minister Lt Gen Adul Boonthumjaroen is accused of misconduct, poor discipline and leadership, allowing corruption and using his position to benefit himself and associates.
Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul faces allegations of corruption, lack of transparency and misuse of authority for personal and political benefit.
The opposition also links Surasak to its allegations over manipulation of the Senate selection process.
Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob is accused of serious ethical failings and acting contrary to the Constitution and law.
The motion alleges that he operated a business illegally on state land, colluded with private companies and political networks over the misuse of public funds and placed family and political interests ahead of the national interest.
He is also accused of involvement in alleged manipulation of the Senate selection process.
Natural resources and justice ministers named
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin faces allegations of conflicts of interest, corruption, abuse of power, lack of transparency and allowing wrongdoing that caused damage to the country.
Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon Naowarat is accused of corruption, conflicts of interest, double standards and favouritism within the civil service.
The opposition further alleges that he interfered with the justice process and used transfers and appointments to disadvantage officials acting honestly while rewarding those who benefited his political network.
Four ministers attached to PM’s Office included
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Napintorn Srisunpang is accused of serious misconduct, corruption and participating in what the opposition describes as a systematic effort to obtain state power unlawfully.
He also faces allegations relating to the Senate selection process.
Supamas Isarabhakdi, also a minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, is accused of systemic corruption and using official authority to benefit business groups and political allies.
The motion alleges that projects were directed towards associates within what the opposition calls the “blue regime” and compares the alleged network’s conduct with that of an organised criminal group.
Paradorn Prissananantakul faces allegations of corruption, serious ethical misconduct and acting unlawfully to obtain political power, as well as involvement in the alleged manipulation of the Senate selection process.
Suksomrauy Wantaneeyakul is accused of corruption, misuse of the state budget, abuse of authority and obtaining political power through improper means.
The opposition also alleges that she was involved in manipulating the Senate selection process and interfering with investigations into both Senate selection and elections.
            Deputy ministers also face accusations
Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat is accused of corruption, misuse of authority, conflicts of interest, lack of transparency and involvement in systematic wrongdoing.
Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaiseth faces allegations of acting contrary to the Constitution and law, conflicts of interest, corruption and misuse of authority for personal and political benefit.
The motion also accuses him of involvement in the alleged manipulation of the Senate selection process.
Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit is accused of systemic corruption, breaching the Constitution and law and exploiting public hardship during national crises for personal or political gain.
The opposition further accuses him of serious unlawful conduct, damaging the merit system within the civil service, promoting associates and participating in the alleged manipulation of the Senate selection process.
The opposition argues that the conduct and administration of Anutin and the other 17 ministers have caused serious damage to the country and says allowing them to remain in office would risk further harm.
All accusations contained in the motion remain allegations. Those named are entitled to be regarded as innocent of any criminal wrongdoing unless and until guilt is established through the legal process.
