Arya News Agency -TEHRAN – Iran's power industry has successfully navigated the twin challenges of wartime conditions and peak summer demand, the head of state utility Tavanir said, crediting round-the-clock efforts by workers.
Mohammad Allahdad, speaking at the 24th "Mahtab" jihadist maneuver and a memorial ceremony for Tehran's electricity distribution martyrs, said over 1.1 million cases of illegal connections, tampered meters, and crypto-mining were identified and controlled in the past six months. More than 1,000 kilometers of illegal cables were removed, 6 billion kilowatt-hours of previously unrecorded energy were accounted for, and nearly 400 unauthorized transformers were disconnected.
He cited the installation of 900,000 smart meters this year as a key upgrade for monitoring high-consumption and violating subscribers, supported by 24 nationwide maneuvers involving 4,000 personnel and public tip-offs. Enforcement is focused particularly on agricultural violations and preventing subsidized power from being diverted to unauthorized uses such as gardens and villas.
Allahdad identified economic energy pricing reform and renewable expansion—with a fivefold increase in solar power—as core solutions to the supply-demand imbalance. He stressed that protecting the safety and dignity of operational forces remains a red line in enforcement operations.
